Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our real estate courses
How many CE hours does California require?
CA DRE requires 45 hours of continuing education every 4 years for salesperson and broker renewal. For first renewals, the 45 hours must include 5 mandated 3-hour courses (Ethics, Agency, Trust Fund Handling, Fair Housing, Risk Management) plus an Implicit Bias Training course (2 hours), with the remaining hours as approved electives.
How often do California real estate licensees renew?
California real estate salesperson and broker licenses renew every 4 years. CE must be completed during the 4 years before renewal. Expiration occurs on the anniversary date of your original licensure.
Does Fortune Academy report my California CE to DRE automatically?
Yes. Fortune Academy automatically reports your CE completion to CA DRE within 24 hours of finishing the course. You receive a confirmation email and a printable certificate.
Can I complete California CE entirely online?
Yes. Fortune Academy's 45-hour California CE package is 100% online and DRE-approved. No classroom, no scheduling. Study at your pace on any device.
What is the 2024 implicit bias training requirement in California?
Effective January 1, 2024, California DRE requires a 2-hour Implicit Bias Training as part of the CE cycle. Fortune Academy's 45-hour package includes the full Implicit Bias Training to satisfy this requirement.
What happens if I miss my California CE deadline?
If you miss your renewal deadline, your license expires. You have a 2-year late renewal period (with late fees). Beyond 2 years, you must reapply from scratch and retake the salesperson exam.
Do California brokers have different CE requirements than salespersons?
California brokers have the same 45-hour every-4-years CE requirement as salespersons. For broker first renewals, the mandated courses are the same 5 core topics. Fortune Academy's package works for both license types.
How long does the California CE course take?
Most students finish the 45-hour CA CE package in 3–6 weeks studying evenings and weekends. It's self-paced — you can complete as quickly as DRE allows (log minimum hours per module) or spread it across your 4-year cycle.
