Frequently Asked Questions

How many CE hours does New York require?

NY DOS requires 22.5 hours of continuing education every 2 years for salesperson and broker renewal. The 22.5 hours must include 3 hours fair housing/discrimination, 2.5 hours ethics, 1 hour recent legal matters, 2 hours implicit bias awareness, and 14 hours of elective CE.

NY salesperson and broker licenses renew every 2 years on your license anniversary date. You can renew up to 90 days before expiration through the eAccessNY system. Complete all 22.5 CE hours before your renewal.

Yes. Fortune Academy automatically reports your CE completion to NY DOS within 24 hours of finishing the course. You receive a confirmation email and a printable certificate for your records.

Yes. Fortune Academy's 22.5-hour New York CE package is 100% online and DOS-approved. No classroom, no proctoring — study at your pace on any device.

Effective for renewals on or after January 1, 2023, NY DOS requires 2 hours of implicit bias awareness training as part of the 22.5-hour CE package. Fortune Academy's package includes the full DOS-approved Implicit Bias Awareness module.

If you miss your renewal deadline, your NY license lapses. You have up to 2 years to renew late with completed CE and a late fee. After 2 years, your license is terminated and you must reapply through the full salesperson exam process.

NY brokers have the same 22.5-hour every-2-years CE requirement as salespersons — same 5 mandated topics plus 14 hours of electives. Fortune Academy's package works for both.

Most students finish the 22.5-hour NY CE package in 2–4 weeks evenings and weekends. Self-paced — complete as quickly as DOS allows (log minimum time per module) or spread it across the 2-year cycle.
