Complete 240 hours of a Pennsylvania-Approved Broker Licensing education

Once you’ve met the prerequisites, it’s time to begin the 240-hours of Pennsylvania state-approved Broker Pre-Licensing education coursework. Two credit hours can be granted for each year of active practice the applicant has as a licensed broker in another state during the 10 years immediately before the Broker application. This requirement can also be satisfied if you have a bachelor’s degree with a major in Real Estate from an accredited college, a juris doctor degree from an accredited law school, or completed 240-hours of broker pre-licensure coursework in another jurisdiction that was approved to meet the requirements.

How do I get a Pennsylvania real estate Broker License?

To become a real estate Broker in Pennsylvania, an applicant must meet these prerequisites: Be at least 21 years of age. Have a High School Diploma or GED. Must have 3 years of experience as a Pennsylvania-licensed salesperson or possess at least 3 years of other experience, education, or both, that the Commission considers the equivalent of 3 years of experience. Be able to provide a recent Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) from the state police or other approved state agency. Once the prerequisites have been met, an applicant must: Complete 240-hours of commission-approved Broker Pre-Licensing education. (This requirement can also be satisfied if you have a bachelor’s degree with a major in Real Estate from an accredited college, a juris doctor degree from an accredited law school, or completed 240-hours of broker pre-licensure coursework in another jurisdiction that was approved to meet the requirements.) Pass the coursework final exam with a score of 70% or greater. Pass the state-issued Broker License exam. Submit license application to the state.

With the exception of the state-issued exam, the Pennsylvania real estate education required by the state can be completed entirely online. Fortune Academy offers packages with 60 of the 240 hours required by the state. Students are allowed to complete up to 7.5 hours of coursework per day.

In addition to the cost of education and testing, those looking to acquire a real estate license will have to pay: $40 Exam Application Fee (For Sole Proprietor)

A Salesperson is licensed to conduct business on behalf of a Broker and cannot operate independently of a brokerage. A licensed Salesperson can become a Broker if they complete the required education and examination requirements.

In the state of Pennsylvania, applicants must provide a recent Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) from the state police or other approved state agency. A criminal history doesn’t necessarily disqualify a candidate.

Applicants must be 21 years of age.

No, applicants do not have to be a resident of Pennsylvania to receive a Pennsylvania Broker License.

Pennsylvania real estate Brokers are required to complete 14 hours of Continuing Education every biennium (two years).

Pennsylvania does not have direct reciprocity with any state, but offers equivalency exemptions for license holders that have completed equivalent or greater Pre-Licensing coursework in other states. Equivalency is determined by the commission.

The required 240-hours of coursework can be completed online.

According to Indeed.com, the average annual salary of a real estate agent in Pennsylvania is $77,831, so theoretically, a Broker would earn more.
