Most applicants must complete the 63-hour Florida sales associate pre-licensing course before taking the state exam. However, active members in good standing with the Florida Bar and applicants with a qualifying four-year degree in real estate may be exempt from the 63-hour course. Different requirements also apply to applicants using Florida’s mutual recognition pathway.

How long does it take to get a Florida real estate license?

To get a Florida real estate sales associate license, you generally must be at least 18, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, have a U.S. Social Security number, complete the required 63-hour pre-licensing education unless exempt, submit the DBPR application, complete electronic fingerprinting and the background check, and pass the state sales associate exam with a score of at least 75 out of 100. After the exam, the license must be activated with a qualifying broker before you can practice. The 45-hour post-licensing course is a first-renewal requirement, not a prerequisite for initial licensure.

The Florida sales associate licensing exam contains 100 questions and allows 3.5 hours. You need a score of at least 75 out of 100 to pass. Pearson VUE administers the exam at physical test centers.
