Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our real estate courses
How many CE hours does Texas require?
TREC requires 18 hours of continuing education every 2 years for active Texas sales agents and brokers. The 18 hours must include 4 hours of Legal Update I, 4 hours of Legal Update II, 3 hours of a contract-related course, and 7 hours of elective CE.
When is my Texas real estate license renewal due?
Texas real estate licenses renew every 2 years on the license anniversary date. TREC sends a renewal notice approximately 90 days before expiration. Complete all 18 hours of CE by your renewal deadline.
Does Fortune Academy report my CE to TREC automatically?
Yes. Fortune Academy automatically reports your CE completion to TREC within 24 hours of finishing the course. You receive a confirmation email and a printable certificate.
Can I complete Texas CE online?
Yes. Fortune Academy's 18-hour Texas CE package is 100% online and TREC-approved. No classroom, no scheduling, no proctoring — study at your own pace on any device.
What is the 3-hour contract course in Texas CE?
Effective January 1, 2020, TREC requires a 3-hour contract-related CE course during each 2-year renewal cycle. This focuses on the specific TREC-promulgated contracts and forms that Texas agents use in practice. Fortune Academy includes this course in the 18-hour package.
What if I miss my Texas CE deadline?
If you miss your renewal deadline, TREC will let you renew up to 6 months late with a late fee, but your license will be expired in the interim — meaning you cannot practice real estate. Beyond 6 months, you must reapply and retake the exam.
Do Texas brokers have different CE requirements?
Texas brokers have the same 18-hour biennial CE requirement as sales agents — Legal Update I + II, a contract course, and electives. The content topics sometimes vary by license level, but the total hours are the same.
How long does the Fortune Academy Texas CE course take?
Most students finish the 18-hour TX CE package in 2–3 weeks studying evenings and weekends. It's self-paced — you can complete it as quickly as TREC allows (log minimum hours per course) or spread it across the 2-year cycle.
